Dreams (Conception)
My sometimes fear of intimacy has inspired this work. I hope viewers will think of the times when their greatest fears have come true, but they have faced them down to overcome. Thinking of how the fear that anticipated the fact was great, but the reality, once endured, was not frightening at all to experience.
I hope you will be inspired to think of how it feels to have anxiety (about anything) and then endure it until the end. The fear of getting too close to other people has often bothered me. I depict my fear with this painting as a reminder that fears, for the most part, are imaginary like bad dreams.
I chose this subject matter because I think that a mind, when repressed, will eventually linger on the darker aspects of its own imagination. I have tried to represent that repressed fear, here in abstract expression.
